If you’re new to camping, or have never been to Jellystone Park™ Quarryville, there may be some camping terminology you come across on our website in which you’re not sure what it means. Have no fear though—we’ve compiled a list of these common camping terms to help you with planning your family camping vacation to Jellystone Park™!
RV Camping Terminology
Full Hook-Ups: With a full hook-up RV site, you’ll have access to all the necessities during your camping trip—water, electric, and sewer utilities. Full hook-up sites provide ease and comfort during your RV getaway. Psst…all of our RV campsites offer full hook-ups!
Buddy Sites: If you’re looking to camp next to a friend with as much ease as possible, then you’ll definitely want to look into buddy sites. Buddy sites are campsites located right next to each other, allowing you to share the same space with your “buddy” while also enjoying the comfort of your own RV.
Slide-Outs: Chances are if you’re an RV owner, you’ll know if your rig has slide-outs or not. A variety of RVs have slide-outs (they can be on the driver and/or passenger side), that come out once an RV is settled on a campsite to provide those inside with more living space.
Jellystone Park™ Terminology
Comfort Station: Also, known as bathrooms or bathhouses, Comfort Stations provide RV and tent campers with an extra place to wash up during their trip. Check out our campground map to see where all of our Comfort Stations are located!
Ranger Station: This is an important place for Jellystone Park™ Quarryville campers to know about. At the Ranger Station, guests can grab camping necessities, groceries, Yogi Bear™ swag, and more!
Bark Park: Our furry, four-legged friends love camping, too! If your family pet tags along on your next trip, they’re sure to enjoy running and playing in our fenced-in Bark Park (also known as a dog park)!
Bear Visits: Looking to make your time at Jellystone Park™ even more special? You can schedule a Bear Visit and one of our Bears will visit your campsite or cabin! *Subject to availability, requires an additional fee.
Hydrostorm: Head on over to the Water Zone during your stay to check out the hydrostorm. Caution: Stand under it and you’re guaranteed to get soaked! Throughout the day, the hydrostorm will dump gallons of water on our campers, providing a refreshing break from the hot summer sun.
Peak Season: The summer season at Jellystone Park™, also known as peak season, is when our activities and amenities are in full swing! During peak season, June 5 – August 23, campers can enjoy extended hours at facilities like the Pic-A-Nic Basket, daily themed activities like arts & crafts, the use of the water amenities, daily hugs from our beloved Bears, and more! Peak season is also the busiest time of the year because kids are out of school for the summer.
Non-Peak Season: Spring and fall is when our non-peak season occurs. With non-peak season comes a quieter Camp-Resort, cheaper rates, and cooler weather.
Glamping: A combination of “glamorous” and “camping”, Glamping describes a style of camping with additional amenities and comforts that are often not associated with traditional camping. At Jellystone Park™ Quarryville, a glamping experience can be found at many of our luxury cabin types, like our Trailblazer Cabins or our great for group lodging options! Enjoy AC/heating, comfy beds, private hot tubs, and more!
Gaga Ball: Gaga what? Gaga Ball is a popular activity often found at campgrounds. It can be defined as a kinder, gentler version of dodge ball, and is played in an octagon-shaped pit with a soft foam or rubber ball. Gather up your family and friends—the more players, the better!
Barrier Free: When searching for cabin rentals, you might come across the term “barrier free”. This means that the cabin type is ADA accessible! Learn about our barrier free cabins here!
