We received this testimony from Mark, a frequent Jellystone Park™ camper from Maryland, and we just had to share! He and his family have made lifelong friends after moving in 2009 and beginning a lifelong tradition of camping with us. Read about their experience below!

“After we moved from Atlanta in 2009, we not only had to find a new home in Maryland…  we had to find a new home for camping.  Camping is where we spend our down time, as a family…  to get away from the laundry, work, the lawn, the phone, and all the things that tendto occupy our time when we’re home.  So finding the right place to spend our weekends/vacations was almost as important as finding the right house to live in!

After a couple of years trying out new places, we found Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Quarryville, PA!  Almost immediately we found a connection with the campground, the people, the staff, and the beauty of the Lancaster area countryside!  Our son, who was about 6 at the time, loved it!  He could not wait to get to the “jumpy pillow” or walk down to the pond to go fishing!  He caught his first fish there, went to his first “dance party”, first learned about “Gaga ball”, slid down his first “chocolate slide”, and so much more!

Things have changed over these many years, but we still love Yogi!  The ranger station has grown, along with the campground!  The pool keeps growing..  the playground has grown and moved..  the pedal carts rolled in, along with a ton of new cabins.   Then new bathrooms…  and mini golf…  then more bathrooms and more new bathrooms!  Today there is a new pavilion, escape rooms, basketball court, and so on, and so on!  I feel like the money that we spend to stay here, is always being recirculated back into the park!

We have made so many friends here…  some are now like family…  some are friends we have reconnected with, and some we have met for the first time!  We have brought our sons football team here, Baseball team, our families, and introduced so many others to not just camping, but the freedom of just letting go…  cooking some food on the grill and sitting around a fire for hours and hours telling stories, laughing, and having some friendly debates!  Even with all the changes, that part remains the same…  and is the best part of just being here!

I have no doubt that growing and maintaining a place like this has it’s challenges!  Management changes, owners have changed and staff turns over.  The weather doesn’t always cooperate and there are those that just don’t appreciate what this place is and what goes into it.  But for us, we could never say enough good things about this place, and all the people that make it what it is for us… a home away from home.  Thanks so much for giving our families so many great memories and letting our boys grow up here!”

Thank you to the Russel, Kenney, Hilton, and Linn families! We hope to see you many years to come.
