In addition to the stunning scenery you’ll find, Minnewaska Park offers activities including bike riding, swimming, horseback riding, scuba-diving, rock-climbing, and boating.
Stop #3: Breakneck Ridge Trail
Breakneck Ridge Trail is known as one of the most popular hikes in the country. Although it is relatively short in length, the Breakneck Ridge Trail is a demanding hike, and includes a steep climb over exposed rocks. If you do choose to accept the challenge, your hard work will certainly be rewarded! The Breakneck Ridge Trail provides a beautiful lookout over the Hudson River, with views of Bannerman’s Castle on Pollopel Island and Storm King Mountain. Trail Stewards are available on weekends to assist your experience, so that you can accomplish this hike safely, while having a blast!

Stop #1: High Rocks Hike

The High Rocks Hike overlooks Tohickon Creek, and eventually reaches the creek itself. Stop #1: Hawksbill Greenway
Hello Virginia! This first stop surely should not be missed. Hawksbill Greenway is described as “where urban meets wild.” Located in an urban setting of the Shenandoah Valley, visitors can take a stroll along the two-mile paved trail while observing the abundance of wildlife. Trout, butterflies, and birds all thrive in this habitat. Bird-watching, biking, jogging, fishing, and rollerblading are all activities you’ll see while at Hawksbill Greenway. You’re only steps away from the unique downtown of Luray, where you can find farmer’s markets, restaurants, museums, and shops.
Stop #2: Shenandoah National Park
The Shenandoah National Park is located along the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and is home to endless beauty. Take the scenic route on the Skyline Drive, a relaxing drive that goes through the entire length of the park. Or try the Stony Man Mountain Hike, a short and well-marked trail friendly to all. The Luray Caverns is the largest and most popular cavern in the eastern United States. The Caverns are located deep beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains, and are approximately 4,000,000 years in the making – needless to say, they are a major tourist destination. Take a guided tour to view the marvelous stone columns and crystal-clear pools. The world’s largest instrument, The Great Stalacpipe Organ, can be found here as well. Experience this “must see” U.S. landmark, as the caverns are a true spectacle of nature.
